Sample Mapping Grade GPS
Standards (.pdf)
The Arkansas State Land Information
Board has developed GPS Standards in order to support the legislative
initiatives of the Arkansas Spatial Data Infrastructure. The standards have
been made a state rule in Arkansas and are intended to benefit Global
Positioning System (GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) user
communities in numerous ways. Their purpose is to:
1. Eliminate or reduce
known and potential systematic errors;
2. Establish a common
means of collecting GPS data in Arkansas;
3. Provide standards
for supplying metadata about GPS receivers used to collect spatial data
(features); and
4. Supply GPS users
with common GPS terms and abbreviations.
Meeting each of these tasks will
provide GPS features with known accuracies, and reliable metadata for future
spatial data users.
The GPS Standards can be reviewed Here.
